Enterprise Library Part Deux
I just wanted to clear up some things on Enterprise Library.
- I would love to give everyone a copy of it right now, but because of some contractual obligations we can not release until January. So between now and then I will be making some posts about interesting design and code snippets.
- Although it sucks we can't release until January, it does give us some time to tweak a few things and fix a few more postponed bugs.
- Enterprise Library does not replace the Application Blocks, but is more of an evolution. If you are using the current Application Blocks, you can/should keep using them. There is no backward compatibility from the Application Blocks to Enterprise Library. Our scenario was not to replace, but update the experience and have a standard spec for the Blocks going forward. We do not ever gaurentee backwards compatilbity since we are trying to provide guidance on the best use of the platform and our code may not fit all your scenarios.
I will be posting something on the Configuration Runtime and Designtime portions of Enterprise Library next. You can always go the GDN workspace and download the documentation if you are interested in some late night fireside reading.
