Hey everyone. You've probably noticed that I haven't posted on this blog in over a year. With new job responsibilies came a new set of priorities - and, to be honest, fewer interesting things I could post about.

So, this is a post to acknowledge the reality that this blog is done. There's a good chance that I'll come back with a few of my side coding projects and insight into the way Microsoft ships software (know what "shiproom" is?) - this time as a contributor on the VB and C# team blogs. Watch Charlie's blog for a pointer!

So long for now, and feel free to unsubscribe! :0) You can always reach me at scottno@microsoft.com.

Show up and talk to members of the DLinq team. What's DLinq, you ask? Well, to understand that you'll need to know what LINQ is - you can start with the blurb below, read more about it here and install the latest CTP. It's very cool stuff.

DLinq Chat
"The LINQ Project is a codename for a set of extensions to the .NET Framework that encompass language-integrated query, set, and transform operations. DLinq is a component of LINQ which allows access to data stored in relational databases. We're actively designing and developing this technology - show up and join the DLinq team to participate in that process or just get a better understanding! Don't know much about LINQ or DLinq yet? The DLinq team will be ready and waiting for your questions and comments at this date and time in this chatroom: http://msdn.microsoft.com/chats/chatroom.aspx. This is otherwise known as a chat - a great opportunity to speak directly with the people who develop the software you might just end up using!

C# Test Manager, Rusty Miller, is looking for some passionate talent for his team. You know you wanna work in Building 41. :0)

Ever wonder if we're planning on releasing a service pack for Visual Studio 2003? Well, we are. And we've just released a Servicing Site on MSDN talking about our plans, standard procedures, update history, and more. Check it out.

Not to be forgotten, of course is the Visual Studio Support Center. A great starting point if you've got questions or issues with one of our products. Or you could just email me. :0)

Alright, alright. I admit it. I've been a slacker lately. Pretty much everything I've posted to my blog in the past five or six months has been a chat announcement. Sorry about that.

But there is a reason! I've switched jobs - I'm not longer a feature PM. Starting in June, I transitioned into the C# Release Program Manager role. What does that mean, you ask? If you knew what Shaykat Chaudhuri did on the C# team did, then you know what I do. He was C# Release PM but is now on the XBox Live team - yes, he probably does have an XBox 360 in his office. And no, I don't have one yet. My only (and first) console is a PS2. Just finished Shadow of the Colussus recently - a very nice game, both for length, visuals, and gameplay. Can't say much for replayability. But then, I'm intentionally avoiding that due to the other things I have to do. Like watch Season 2 of Scrubs on DVD. :0)

I digress. The point is that I'm doing something different now. More of a project management role - setting goals and making sure we hit them. There are also a few other things that come along with that, like managing our interactions with the servicing arm of our division or making sure that we manage the performance of the software we write. I don't design features anymore - I design the success of the team. :0)

Have any ideas?
