Scott Woodgate's OutBursts

PDC Wrapped-Up

Brian Loesgen (Hi Brian) wrote a nice review of the BizTalk Orchestration futures session where Abhay talked about some of the  cool enhancements we are prototyping for possible delivery in the "Longhorn" timeframe.

Thanks for coming to my BizTalk Server, "Indigo" and "Yukon" session.  I'll see if I can actually get those slides uploaded some time soon...

Scott, from the article above: "It is important to note that this is just a version of the orchestration engine, not a new version of the product. It is a scaled-down, lightweight, rehostable orchestration engine suitable for simple workflows." Can you expand (or are there slides around) on the Rehostable part of it? Is that LH timeframe, or something in BTS2004? Ta - Nic.

This is something that could be done in the LH timeframe well after BTS 2004 (2006?). What we showed was a "visionary" prototype that was hosted in OutLook, Sharepoint, and Word. Technically the prototype could be hosted in anything - for example the next version of BTS could host the engine, as could ASP.NET. Note all this stuff is "visionary" prototype and we are asking for feedback. Nothing in these slides is guarranteed to happen :).

Thanks! Definatly something to look forward to - doing the logic declarativly (ie, in an orchestration) would be a lot easier than having to try and code it - or worse, code a flow engine :) Ta!
