# MOSS on MSDN please!

Please push the MSDN team to get MOSS 2007 onto the subscriber downloads!

Office 2K7 and MOSS 2K7 are upon us.  There is a lot of dev work to get done in the next two months.  Every day counts here.  I'd rather not develop on a 180-day copy and have to re-install the MSDN version and rebuild my whole dev machine!

I'm finding the licensing quite confusing. Are there in fact two different editions of the MOSS server? Or are the differences in the client CALs only, but with the same server bits? Is there more info about this available somewhere?

# re: Announcing the RTW of WSS and Office SharePoint Server 2007 Standard and Enterprise Evaluation!

Hi,

The upgrade worked a treat.  The only issue is I tried to uninstall Sharepoint Designer B2TR before Sharepoint B2TR - and got some message that the sharepoint installation had been corrupted.  But after rebooting (post the Sharepoint designer uninstall), and logging in using the original administrator account I used to install it (instead of a different administrator account), it worked fine.

The only issue I have is that in your guidelines you say there is *no need* to uninstall .NET 3, etc.  But surely I am confused because you do use workflow foundation.....and it does not look like the installer automatically upgraded to .NET 3.

People do not want old versions of .NET 3 on their machines, so you should clear up the notes on this.  If it is possible to uninstall and put on the latest versions tell them when do to that.

I am just about to try this post upgrade - and I hope it will not break.

# WSS 3 Problem

Hey,

I installed WSS 3 without problems. Central Administration Site works fine as well. I tried to create a new share point site (using central administration). Everything completes as expected, however, when I attempt to load the site I get a windows login box (good..) but the after login I receive a "HTTP 404 Not Found". I know the site exists, I can see the DBs and the created item in IIS.

I have been trying to debug this problem for a few hours now. Somthings I have noticed are...

1. If I type in the path /_layouts/error.aspx I do see the error page (so that suggests to me the site is kinda working)

2. If I try /_layouts/mobile/mbllists.aspx I get "Object reference not set to an instance of an object.". However if I try the same path on the central admin site, I get content...

In the download it says that you need to have:

Microsoft Windows Workflow Foundation Runtime Components

But the only one I find is for Beta 2.2 (which says it's to accompany the MOSS 2007 Beta 2.2).  Will this version work with the newly released trial version?

Thank you,

Ok. You need to install .NET 3.0 with the trial version, which comes with the workflow foundation stuff... located here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=10CC340B-F857-4A14-83F5-25634C3BF043&displaylang=en

Now... does anybody know where to get the designer?  You cannot create a master page unless you have this.  I'm not sure if you can use the beta 2 version or if that is still even available?

??

Thank you.

# re: Announcing the RTW of WSS and Office SharePoint Server 2007 Standard and Enterprise Evaluation!

I installed as recommended - only difference in my installation was the value of the ServerRole subkey, that in my installation was APPLICATION.

Running the config wizard ends with the error: cannot connect to configuration database.

I used the same account and password as in the B2TR-installation. and I've verified, that the account is dbo on the config.db

Any ideas?

# Database Schema Incompatible - Install Fails

Well, I've spent the better part of a day trying to install the RTM of Office SharePoint Server 2007 - no luck.  I first tried the upgrade from B2TR. The configuration wizard failed saying that the database schema was incompatible.

I then uninstalled everything, including the version of SQL Server 2005 I had running.  I followed closely the post about removing Office 12 (deleted files, ran the installer cleanup utility, cleared the registry, rebooted).

I was able to run the install again, this time as a STANDALONE installation so it would include SQL Server 2005 Express, but again the configuration wizard failed with the following exception:
