# re: Announcing the Beta Exams for MCTS Application Development: 70-542 for Office SharePoint Server 2007 and 70-541 for Windows SharePoint Server 3.0

I've booked in for the SharePoint Services exam, though VUE only had 071-541 on their system. Not sure if there's any difference between 070 and 071, but they accepted the code eventually.

Are the exams codes correct ?

In VUE it only shows exams 71-541 and 71-542 (normally beta) and the promo codes are valid.

Just checked Prometric and Pearson VUE, and valid test dates are only available through 1/12/2007, at least in Oklahoma. Kind of short notice, but even if i fail the exam, the experience will be good for me. How do i get a test date in February?

The posted dates are correct.  However, it seems that the new dates did't get sent to VUE and Prometric fast enough.  We are currently working with these exam providers to get the information corrected.

Thanks Howard,

Should we watch for a post here that VUE and Prometric have the new dates, or just keep calling them weekly?

# re: Announcing the Beta Exams for MCTS Application Development: 70-542 for Office SharePoint Server 2007 and 70-541 for Windows SharePoint Server 3.0

Isn´t it 71-xxx a denomination for beta exam & 70-xxx for the exam in its released form? So that´s why, it accept the promotional code.

Something else. Why it´s so complicate to find free training resources for these beta exams?

In Spain it´s better to phone and choose a date exam.

Thx

Unfortunately, I'm not aware of materials that are currently available (though there are books from MS Press coming soon).  Perhaps individuals who have taken the exam might post the materials that were helpful for them?

Both exams are set to go live by the beginning of next week.  Beta participants should have results very shortly thereafter (translation: if you haven't heard anything within a week of the exams being live, let me know).

# re: Announcing the Beta Exams for MCTS Application Development: 70-542 for Office SharePoint Server 2007 and 70-541 for Windows SharePoint Server 3.0

I took this exam in January, and Pearson Vue hasnt updated the exam status yet. I called them and they said some of the beta exams are rejected from Microsoft! They didnt tell me the reason, but they said they are in the process of re-processing these exams. I called Microsoft and they said this will require to retake the exam in live version if it got rejected again.

Doesnt make sense why would an exam be rejected?

4 exams total - 2 ITPRO focused + 2 Developer focused.  Within each focus area, there is 1 exam on WSS and 1 on MOSS.
