Description of the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 cumulative update package: February 24, 2009

Installation Recommendation for a fresh SharePoint Server

To keep all files in a SharePoint installation up-to-date, the following sequence is recommended.

  1. Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 1
  2. The 2007 Microsoft Office Servers Service Pack 1
  3. February Cumulative Update for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0
  4. February Cumulative Update for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007

Meanwhile, if customer need to index Visio files, there is a Visio iFilter hotfix which is not a part of the uber package.

After applying the preceding updates, run the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard or “psconfig –cmd upgrade –inplace b2b -wait” in command line. This needs to be done on every server in the farm with SharePoint installed.

The version of content databases should be 12.0.6341.5000 after successfully applying these updates.

For more in-depth guidance for the update process, we recommend that customers refer to the following articles. These articles provide a correct way to deploy updates, identify known issues (and resolutions), and provide information about creating slipstream builds.

Kind of nice, but I would appreciate basic links to the technet sharepoint update site, and then updating that site to show the update path.

So, since I have sp1 -> oct cumulative -> dec cumulative in place, I would imagine it is ok to run the uber feb cumulative on top of that?

Just a matrix with all the options.

As a sidenote the slipstream didnt like work on the december one, at least the instructions did not result in a complete working MOSS ent.ed server with all the updates and language packs. In fact just basically RTM. But that's irrelevant.

@AllTheGoodNamesAreInUse

Yes, you are right. Technet article update need time, we make this post so everyone can get the information as soon as possible.

And if you already on any post-sp1 build, then apply feb cu you are all set.

For slipstream problem, can you describe how you did it? Because if you use a SP1 build + Feb Cu build, even the slipstream is not sucessful, it should end up with SP1.

# re: Uber Packages of February Cumulative Update are Ready

Major heart attack barely averted today...

I installed WSS & MOSS SP1 on my server today. Ran the config wizard, got a failed message, and couldn't bring up my site. Did some searhing on the web, and decided that maybe I needed to install the WSS and MOSS infrastructure updates. Did this, ran config wizard, and it failed again. Went ahead and installed the WSS and MOSS February cumulative updates, ran config wizard, and it failed again.

Three hours into this, staff are clamoring for their data, and I'm starting to worry at this point that I may never get this back up and running. Did some Google searching on one of the error messages that I was seeing..."please upgrade this sharepoint application server before attempting to upgrade this object." It took me to this Technet thread from 2007 where someone mentions Groupboard as the cause of a similar problem...

Uninstalled Groupboard, ran Config Wizard... I'm back in business!!

# re: Uber Packages of February Cumulative Update are Ready

Can anyone confirm what I have observed to be an upper limit (1000) on the

number of change records that can be returned by the UserProfileChanges MOSS

webservice? This is causing me grief when updates are being applied in bulk,

and the confirming read only ever accounts for the first 1000.  I noticed this before the patch, and hoped it might have been picked up and resolved - however, no joy.

Thanks
