Colligo Reader is cool (I mean, useful) because it lets me sync the *entire* SharePoint site, so I can look at everything offline. And with Colligo Contributor, I can even update and add content offline, which I can't do with Outlook except for the standard Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks webparts.

For a site like the SharePoint Community Portal, there are just way too many places where content can be updated, so Colligo Reader is a much more effective option for offlne reading. Of course, it would be nice if Reader provided an indicator (bolded font or red astrisk) of what webparts have new content since last sync or last read.

Thanks for the mention of Colligo Reader. We've done quite a bit of analysis of what's available in Office 2007 to take SharePoint offline. A bunch of it is posted on our blog blog. Here's one post that might be a good place to start. Also, Dustin Miller from SharePoint Experts (& SharePoint MVP) did a webinar back in the fall that goes into this in more detail: How to Take SharePoint 2007 Offline. Warning, it may take a bit of time to load.
