This may be a bit of a silly question here, but is there a rough guestimate as to when the b2tr will be released?

Can't wait to get our sharepoint 2007 installation upgraded!

We have been using it in our small development team as a knowledge sharing platform (wiki/blogging) and it has been fantastic thus far.

B2TR is not available yet - when it is the links in the documents will work and I'll also update this post with the direct download links.

The documentation was finished before the code was ready for external distribution - in the interests of giving people as much notice as possible we released the docs the second they were ready... Take the time you have before the code ships to read the docs - they'll be very useful to you.

I find it VERY useful, to have documentation as early as possible. It is unusual to post it before a download is available, but it is a very good idea! Keep on doing so!

In this way when the final release is out, some companies can go productive with there own custom code .. ;-)

Well, I followed the instructions and upgraded from B2 to B2TR. All went well with the expected results until...I tried to open my existing sites. Now all I get is 404 errors. I tried resetting IIS. I can create new site collections ok. The existing ones however just don't want to work. I tried running the following command as well:

psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait

Still no go. Anyone else having issues?

Great post! Appreciate the consolidation of links/references here. You may also want to inform everyone of a caveat when installing MOSS/WSS in virtual machines. There is a known issue where an InvalidOperationException is alwasy thrown when you run the Configuration Wizard on a sysprep'd or newSID'd VM. The workaround here at the moment is to just create a brand new Windows (2003) VM.
Hope this helps too.

I've finished the update of a standalone sharepoint server 2007 right now. my site had already content and bdc's. I followed the instructions of the sharepoint-team exactly and got so the a fine-working sharepoint b2tr-server working.

Looks like this worked, thanks guys. However, I did have to delete the search databases and recreate them AND I did follow the directions. Just so you all know having a Windows SharePoint Search Service and a Office Search Service is very confusing and made this a challenging install...I swear the service names changed as I turned things on and off. Shanes Blog about does a great job outlining the steps...wish I had waited until he posted it to try this out.
