Hi,

I'm surprised, that it is not recommended, to use Hyper-V Snapshots with Sharepoint. We are planning to use DPM with Hyper-V and SharePoint. In this scenario we also plan to use online Snapshots.

I think it is not feasible to detach the servers from the farm to do backups of the virtual machines. Is there any other recommandation?

Hi Arpan,

I am facing an issue in sharepoint portal server 2003. I have an existing portal that is built on sharepoint 2003 and back end as sql server 2000. I am basically trying to migrate only the database to sql2005. ie. trying to point my existing portal onto a new sql server. I tried the process on my local(same) server. It worked. But when I am trying to do this on a remote sql server, it gives me an error. I have some screenshots available. If you can tell me your email id, I can mail them too . It would be great if you can help me in this.
