How could I use this for a REST API that requires authentication? The username and password are specific to each user...

This is a good Blog, but the product (SPD) was released before it should have been.

I have been in the computer software industry for 27 years and I really have to say that SPD is one bug-filled, dangerous tool in the wrong hands. I have personally spent 100's of hours repairing the unintended consequences of others using this tool with the best of intentions.

Hi Everyone,

We hope to have part 2 out soon. Thanks for the great feedback.

I was just informed that the twitter data source isn't working as described above. It appears that twitter has changed some of their APIs. Here's how to update the example:

•Add a new field to the recruit list called “screenname”

•Use the following rest url: http://www.twitter.com/users/show.xml?screen_name=janedoe1994

•Change the twitter data source parameter to screenname instead of email.

It doesn't appear that we can lookup the user details using an email, so the above change uses the screen_name property to query the correct user.

I am eagerly awaiting part two of this post. Considering making a Google maps web part that puts markers on the map from a sharepoint list.

I am on hold to see the current solution.

I can't get this step to work.

"Using the Data Source Library, click Server-side Scripts > Connect to a script or RSS Feed… Use the dialog to name the source (General tab) and enter the URL (Source tab)." When I select Show Data I get an error that says the server retuned a non-specific error when trying to get data from the data source. Check the format and content of your query and try again. If the problem persists, contact the server administrator.

Any suggestions?
