Software Development should be a rewarding experience...

We've been heads down working on the 1.0 version of the Microsoft Software Licensing and Protection Platform. Small team, lots of work, incredible opportunity and the chance to help the 'rock stars' that make the Windows platform a rewarding choice. Windows has rewarded users with choices for workloads as versatile as games, enterprise servers, mobile devices and top end-to-end business solutions. This has made the platform a rewarding choice for ISV's, Partners and Developers. But not without some struggles and challenges.

That's where you come in. This blog is your blog. It's up to you to make us more nimble and responsive to your need for more information and guidance about how to go about getting your rewards. For sure, it's going to be a team effort to reach a unified goal.

MSLP has a unique position in the Windows ecosystem. Our success is directly related to your success if your success depends on combating privacy and protecting your IP. (Intellectual Property) This also means we have a responsibility to help you make sound decisions so you can begin to claim your reward. We don't have all the answers to the questions that have been asked by you and your colleagues - at this point it's safe to say we don't even have all the questions! But that won't stop us from pursuing the solutions that will enable you to be rewarded.

We think you deserve to get rewarded for your skills, talent and investments. We're software professionals too. We think we should be rewarded for our contribution as well. I speak for the entire SLP team when I say that our idea of a reward is to see that you're rewarded.

Well this is one of the most useful things I have heard of in a while.  Having tried a number of solutions to this and been generally disapointed with what is available, I hope this offering will make a difference.

For me the problem space is really simple.  I have a web site with shopping cart (using php) and I'd just love a really easy way to have it call a service, generate a license key (or file) that I can show the user, that he can enter in the software he's paid for and downloaded and hey presto it just works.

I'm happy to pay for the service for software sales, yet as a small software vendor I am not so happy to pay for trial license keys.

If you can manage that while making it easy to setup for me and easy to use for my customers, then I'll sign up as soon as its released.
