80 minute hands on lab: New and Valuable Features of Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1): Security Configuration Wizard

The objective of this lab is to provide students with a working knowledge of the Security Configuration Wizard. The Security Configuration Wizard allows a systems administrator to deploy over 50 role-based configurations on a server to customize security options according to the needs of their environment. It is a wizard-based technology that was built in order to assist users of varied skill levels with securing the role-based servers in an enterprise environment.

You can use the Security Configuration Wizard (SCW) to help reduce the attack surface of computers in the Windows Server 2003 family with Service Pack 1 (SP1). SCW guides you through the process of creating a security policy, based on the roles performed by a given server. Once a policy is created, it can be edited or applied to one or more similarly configured servers. Applied policies can be rolled back in order to undo changes that may have caused problems. To edit, apply, or roll back a security policy the policy must have been created with SCW.
