Microsoft is in the process of launching an Architect Certification Process.  Information on the process is located here:

Once the beta completes, the process should get formally rolled out in the beginning of 2006.

The 5 years work experience requirement is quite harsh. There are plenty of us n00bs who can kick ass with the best of them ;)

I agree that the 5 years is a high barrier to entry.  However, even with the fast pace of innovation in our industry there is not substitute for having gone through the end to end lifecycle of enterprise application architecture and for that there is no substitute for time.  These projects all take 1 to 3 years and with that in mind the 5 year mark makes sense.
