Axapta – "Adaptive ERP"
One thing that amazes me about Axapta is its Adaptability to suit any business process. It is probably one of the finest software ever designed to accommodate change from ground up. Traditionally ERP vendors were pushing customers not to make many changes/customizations on the software for ease of upgrade etc. But it is next to impossible to deploy an ERP system without any customization, since businesses differ from one another for sure. No two businesses are exactly the same. So a true well designed global ERP system should not request partners and customers not to modify, but should readily allow them to customize and get most out of the system to realize their full potential.
To my knowledge, Axapta is the first ERP system designed to give complete flexibility to customize every aspect of it and elegantly preserve the different changes done by different parties in it’s own containers.
Axapta has 7 layers in which objects reside. They are System, Distributor, Local ( Country Specific), Business, Partner, Customer and User. Each of them has a patch layer also. This layer design is a clear indication that Axapta is built to accommodate changes by multiple parties elegantly and encourages customization.
