Expression Web Designer - 1st CTP available now

It’s amazing to see all the excitement and innovation happening in the world of developing rich Web applications.  The Expression team has reached an important milestone in this context and has delivered the first Community Technology Preview of Expression Web Designer (EWD).

EWD is a new professional design tool for creating HTML/CSS based web sites and applications.  One of the great features is the deep support for web standards - something that is more important today than ever in the designer community.   It also provides sophisticated CSS management and formatting with drag and drop features that will be exciting for designers.

Now Web designers can enjoy designing applications without the burden of coding.  And with integrated support for server and user controls through the ASP.NET 2.0 platform, you can transform your sites into dynamic Web applications.

If you want to see what EWD is all about, I encourage you to check out the EWD session at MIX.

You can download the CTP here.

Namaste!

Hi and thank you for sharing such interestingo information.
I'd like to ask if "Expression Web Designer" is a replacement for Frontpage 2003 ?
Thanks,
ST

Hi,

Here is how I think about this.  EWD is a NEW product for a new audience.  EWD incorporates some of the best technologies from both VS & FP2003 to deliver this new, professional, standards based surface.  Existing frontpage users can choose between MS’ 3 product offerings for web design/development: SPD, EWD, VS.
