Voice-activating dialing takes longer
An article about car phones in today’s Wall Street Journal [subscription required] describes a study of 54 participants done by scientists at the Transportation Research Center in East Liberty, Ohio, and the University of Iowa. It found that voice-activated dialing actually took longer (average of 37 seconds) than punching buttons (20 seconds). The study will be presented at the annual meeting of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.
