PowerToys and free add-ins from Microsoft

Did you know that Microsoft publishes a whole bunch of free tools, gadgets, add-ins, etc. for Windows?  They're called PowerToys and you can download them from the Microsoft.com downloads site.

My favorites are the Font Tool (make a TrueType font from your handwriting), Physics Illustrator (lets you simulate laws of physics), and Power Calculator (a souped-up version of the Calculator accessory).

How come there are no speech PowerToys?  We have so many cool things here in the Speech group.  I'll add it to my list of projects: put up some speech Powertoys…

I wonder what kinds of speech PowerToys people would like to see?

Font Tool and Physics Illustrator are for PC Table only. They won't install on an XP System!

A really usefull *toy*/application would be 'voice to text message' for those of us who have still to master text messaging :) ie. you speak and the app converts your speech into a text message.

Obviously for the smart phone.

If I had a tablet pc and would do some power tool for fun it would be for tablet pc, too. Since there is not much real use for the tablet features it's the perfect playground right now.
