Speech (and natural language) blogs at Microsoft

Okay, just because I have been posting erratically for the past month or two, don't think not much has been happening.  We had a big overhaul of the MSDN blog site in April, and it screwed up my carefully-honed posting system and I never quite recovered. Until now...

First, a lot more people in the speech group are blogging, as Jason Groshart recently noted.  You can see my up-to-date blogroll if you really want to keep current (I'll continue posting it to my home page under "Speech Blogs" in the left column). I continue to encourage everyone in my group to start blogging, so expect this to continue to grow as more of us get our feet wet.

Second, this is not just about speech.  My personal background is originally in linguistics, and over half my team works on "natural language" technologies which encompass far more than SR. The formal merger of the speech and natural language technologies is a somewhat recent development, so we are still working out some of the synergies, but expect to see a lot more of this.  We will document it all in blogs.

Finally, the new versions of Windows (aka Longhorn) and Office are starting to reach their beta stages where the wraps come off on what we can say publicly.  That means that soon we'll have a lot more to say to everyone, and we'll want your feedback as well.

Stay tuned!
