Here's an idea for your next science fair project. Images SI, Inc sells a
Speech Recognition Kit for about $80 that outputs a digital number corresponding to the word it recognizes from its 20-40 word vocabulary.
I don't know anything about this company, but this is the kind of thing I bet my kids could play with for many happy hours.
