Capresso vs. Barrista

Robert Stewart, over at WombatNation is a speech blogger who recently ran into trouble with his Capresso2000 super-duper automatic espresso machine.

I've been using a relatively simple Barrista maker my wife bought me from Starbucks about five years ago, and I occasionally let myself envy those big honking machines. I use mine every single day and the money I save by not dropping $3 per use is more than enough justification to upgrade to a nicer model.

But now I'm thinking maybe it's better to have the simpler one. My machine is so much less complicated that it must have fewer breakdowns, and even if it did break, I could probably fix it myself.

While I wouldn't go so far as to compare my Capresso to a Ferrari or other high end sports car, they do share the attribute of high performance at a high maintenance cost. While I still love my Capresso, I am a bit disappointed I have had to have it repaired twice in the time I've owned it.
