.NET Micro Framework at Maker Faire

Some colleagues in a sister group of mine have built an SDK that lets you build simple hardware devices to control all kinds of products, like thermostats that use weather information to control energy usage,

They're doing a bunch of things at next week's Maker Faire in Austin (wish I could be there!), but one of the fun things they're doing is a contest where they'll be giving out $101,000 in prizes to people who come up with ideas for dream devices.

too bad Microsoft employees aren't eligible :-(

Good call on the iPhone there, dude.  Any other predictions?

Off topic, but Apple announced in their earnings report that they have passed their 10 million iPhone goal for this year. And it's only October. Your repeated claims of Apple's inability to make their goal are obviously incorrect. By a long shot.

Cool indeed. Maybe you can inform someone else with a nice tip for a good idea. Well, maybe that's not really what this contest is about.

Hope to see the best ideas posted somewhere soon!

Good luck with your blog, it's fun to read.

Hey Richard,

Now that Apple's Q4 earnings have come out and it's all but official that they've blown away the 10M iPhones mark for 2008, would you care to revisit the blog entry you posted in January 2007 saying that they'd be "nowhere near" that mark? Seems you were pretty wrong in that regard.

Have your attitudes towards the iPhone changed since then, or do you still feel it's a huge failure?

Errmmm: You said to come back in late 2008! I would like to take you by your word, but posting isn't allowed anymore....

Well, anyways, here's what I wanted to say: You were totally wrong.
