Help! All of my reports fail with an authentication failure!

Have your Reporting Services 2005 reports started failing recently with the error message?

Logon failed. (rsLogonFailed)

Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007052E)

Check your Unattended Execution Account (UEA).  Is it a domain user?

If so, check to see if the domain user's password has changed.  Has someone intentionally changed that domain user’s password?  Or, do you have a password expire policy in your network?

I run into this issue about once every so many days because our password policy enforces a password change every so many days and I use my account as the UAE.  Once you update the password (via the Reporting Services Configuration Manager), the login failure should disappear.

Does the Unattended Execution Account (UEA) account need to be part of any group like Administrators?

I was running all my SQl services usinga local Admin account and have to request a domain level account specifically for RS. What kind of priveleges does this account need ?

I am very glad I found this instruction. This is exactly the problem I had. I was going through all the permission settings and SQL accounts, to no avail. After I changed the UEA setting, everything is fine now. Thank you so much!

Thank you! That solved my problem (i mispelled the Account Name). After correcting it, everything is working fine.
