Some nodes in OE do not have "Policies" context menu - But I need them to author policies !
I am assuming most of you must be familiar with jargons Facets, conditions and polices by now, if you are hands-on over policy-based management framework.
If you traverse to the facets node under Management->Policy Management in Object explorer you will see bunch of facets listed there. For eg. Let us pick Database Facet. This facet will give you the luxury and the power to author policies against Database entities on the server. However, there are some of the entities on server like ServerRole, UserDefinedDatatype, UserDefinedTableType which do not have the facets implemented - as a result the policies cannot be authored against these entities. This is the reason why some of the nodes in object explorer does not have policies context menu.
We would like to hear from you, from the missing entities under the facets node - the ones you think are important to have for
authoring policies. Pass along the compelling policy, supporting the need for the facet. We will seriously look into them and
prioritize based on the scenarios, for the final release. Send in your responses to gdwarak at microsoft dot com.
