&lt;p&gt;It provides a SSIS Component you can use to grab the data out (or put in) and also a core component DLL which wraps teh functionality of using the lists.asmx webservice into a LINQ'able source. &amp;nbsp;The core dll uses XLINQ extensively, written in VB.Net, and the SSIS dll uses Linq with C# (as a sample).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It makes the code to work with SharePoint much nicer, and wraps common perf issues (batching, retry, error messaging) in a common format.&lt;/p&gt;
