gapingvoid: "cartoons drawn on the back of business cards": scoble's leaving microsoft.

As always, Hugh Macleod captures the moment beautifully :)

It’s sad to hear Robert is leaving but at the same time we have over 3000 bloggers here at Microsoft and the show will go on and we’ll follow Robert’s progess with interest. What he helped to create was a canvas for us all to do something different and connect with our audience with the training wheels (aka stabilisers) off. From my own point of view, I’m amazed every day at what blogging and video blogs like Channel 9 and PTS-TV can allow you to do and it makes me sit back and consider my own future at times  - especially when you read posts like Scoble’s on Cali. There is a revolution underway and though some parts of Microsoft get it, some still don’t and perhaps Robert’s departure may help in  small way to drive some of the changes that are still needed. Through the web the world is getting smaller and faster and blogs have more potential than anything I have seen (even the web) to change our Signal to Noise ratio.

In summary, some of the team have asked me in recent weeks: now we’ve got past the experimentation stages with PTS-TV where is it going? Will we continue? The answer is a VERY BIG YES. In fact if we only do one thing next financial year (July onwards) it wil be blogging and PTS-TV. It gives us so much reach and potential for transparency it’s scary. So expect to see us showing up more often with a camera and talking to you more often through our blogs. Don’t be shy - we’re not.
