How Microsoft Lost Their Canary

Hugh at Gaping Void has added to the conversation on Bill and Scoble “leaving” and reckons we’ve run out of ideas. As you would expect, I don’t really agree :)

Scoble leaving ups the ante in some ways to see if the company is really behind blogging or just put up with Robert as the PR fallout from axing him would have been worse than anything he could say. Repsect to Robert for building the canvas but lets see if it’s still there in a month. I guarantee it will be and it’ll only get louder as hopefully more of the 3000+ Microsoft bloggers get heard more. This train can’t be stopped and does it really need a driver?

As for running out of ideas and the party being over: that all depends on your perspective and I personally think the party could be just about to begin.
Just as an example of how things are changing here: what kind of company would put their leaders on something like Channel 9 right after the announcemnts this week? A year ago we wouldn’t for sure. It shows balls frankly on the part of all concerned. Kudos to Scoble, Charles and Co. Due to them and many others for creating this new Microsoft. It’s spreading fast and I think we’re opening up more than many other 70K person organisation I know of. I hope I can be part of the journey to make us more transparent and human every day.
