What does your business card say?
Though I have an official Microsoft business card I've also taken to carrying a few other cards over the last 6 months. Main reasons:
- They start a conversation - I often hand a Blue Monster card when at events or with press along with my MS card. Guess which one people ask about?
- I've always liked other business cards that stand out - I still have some from many years ago from people I no longer work with but just like their cards
- I like WeeMee cards because I like Celia Francis and their business. They're just cool
- A card can become a useful virus when used in some forums
Streetcards are my main source of cards as they have a load of "Hughcards" but you can also upload any image you like and make a card. Some of the guys in my team have beautiful Vista cards from there for example and they do some cool stuff like laminated cards. I assumed they'd be US based for some reason but I was chuffed to fnid they like around the corner from our UK HQ in Reading.
So, what does your business card say about you? Do people stuff it in their pocket never to be seen again or do they remark upon it?
Damien Mulley posted about Hughcard's this week too. The back of his own card is admirable and Seth Godin covers the topic of brown cow business cards in Purple Cow.
[update] - the card several people have asked for has been added
