The Digital Dark Age

Thanks to Jas for the heads up on this - great to see our MD, Gordon Frazer, on the BBC's tech site today with their new video format. Great to see the geek coming out in Gordon too - demos of DOS and Windows 3.1 and how technologies like Virtual PC can enable access to old document formats.
This is something you'd never really consider but even in my short IT career, I have media that I now no longer have easy access to read data from and worry about old file formats becoming unreadable. As Gordon said:
"Unless more work is done to ensure legacy file formats can be read and edited in the future, we face a digital dark hole."
it's a pretty lengthy article but worth a read as it covers some pretty interesting topics that rarely get air time.
