tripit

Wow, how did I miss this service? My buddy Marc Holmes pointed me to TripIt and for a frequent traveller it’s a great service. In a nutshell, you email your itinerary to plans@tripit.com and they scrape them from the email, PDF or whatever and encode them on to a web page. Why is this cool? Well it means I can access my travel plans any place, anytime from a web page. Very neat and the fact it works with our AMEX provided PDF trip summaries is a real bonus.

It immediately got me thinking how cool this service would be if it were built on Live Mesh. I chatted with some Mesh folks this week and the underlying Feedsync technology is idea for this kind of application. It would mean I can make changes from any device in my Mesh and they would be replicated to the cloud and back around all of my devices. Equally, if British Airways flight system linked in to Mesh they could automatically update my cloud and device calendars should they change flight times or terminals (for example).

Back to TripIt though – I guess they compete to some extend with Dopplr but there are some clear opportunities for integration.
