I still love this cartoon from Hugh. One of my favourites
Well software is slowly migrating to the internet (even Microsoft software) so being an internet "software company" is no bad thing.
Also Microsoft would love to have an internet business that could compete with Google. Wasn't that what Big Steve was all about last MIX keynote?
Does the Binary say anything? I can't copy it from image to translate it online!
Rich - I've been tempted to translate the binary a few times but always thought it probably doesn't. be my guest :)
I'm not saying either is right or wrong Colm :)
just an interesting juxtaposition of the two companies and the way they think....I think.
you can read it many ways which is often the beauty of Hugh's cartoons. you could for example say that Google is looking to become more of an enterprise software comany (GAPE) whilst Microsoft is a sofwtare company that is extending it's apps to the Internet but remains a software driven company vs. an Internet advertising driven business. again, neither are right or wrong...more observational.
please don't interpret the fact I work for MSFT as me bashing Google every time I write about them :)
Here's the string of binary:
1101100111000111010011100111011000011110111011100
0011000111000011011110000111100111110001111001
10010011101111000111110111110110001101100011110001
11100011110011110000111000011111100111100111110101011
001110001110110010111011100011101101011110
And apparently it says:
+ÃNv ¯ ß+<°¾'x¹ýlx±þç ¤>¼Ò_¯;^
Wanted to try my new handwriting recognition software out anyway :-)
