A Dell Week
I’m a Sony man really – I’ve had Vaio’s for the past 4 years and love them (apart from their screens which seem to get so easily “bruised”) but this week I’ve been more intrigued by Dell. Thanks to Quentin at Dell UK I’m testing a pearl Adamo for the weekend which I’ll report on soon but I also noticed new Dell Studio One 19 which Brider Dudley reviews over at the Seattle Times. What I hadn’t noticed is it’s a touch screen unit which may make it even more interesting with Windows 7 on it.
The white version will draw obvious comparisons with Apple and though I suspect the press will deride Dell for copycat behaviour I’ll applaud them. Dell have invested heavily in design of late and I hope it pays off for them with market share and good reviews. They’ve gone from a handful of designers to over 130 and over 200 designs from their Dell Design Studio.
If I’m honest I’ve never been a huge Dell fan and only ever had one of their laptops – over 16 years ago – so maybe it is time for me to give them a go. Though the Lenovo X301 is a very strong contender as my next machine.
We shall see.
