I popped down to Bristol yesterday to check out the Banksy exhibition at Bristol City Museum – aptly titled Banksy vs. Bristol Museum as he’s pretty much taken over the place in a clash of classic building with global graffiti artist.

Though I’d seen plenty of coverage on the web I’d say >80% of the works were new to me – some of his classics are in there but there are also some new pieces like the one above and some huge pieces like the riot police running in a meadow (probably my favourite).

It was also cool to see many of his “fine art” pieces mixed in with the permanent collection – all titled as “Local Artist”. If you’re at all interested in Banksy it’ swell worth a look as it includes his brilliant pet shop from New York with animatronics of Chicken McNuggets, fish fingers and various sausage meat. I found them hilarious but prepare yourself for a queue of approximately 90 minutes and then an hour or so inside. The only disappointment was a lack of swag in the store so my credit card escaped a bashing. It’s free to get in which is fantastic and the local stores are doing a roaring trade with special offers everywhere.
