&lt;p&gt;I think people have either forgotten, or never learned, what the type system is for.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It does, however, point to people's desire to reuse code in a way that is independent of the type system. &amp;nbsp;Something like strongly-typed macros, I suppose.&lt;/p&gt;
