My Facebook Friends who are Also on Twitter

Lauren Cooney at IBM came up with this idea on her blog:

What I'd like to see? An app that utilizes the Open APIs that Facebook and Twitter have so that I can figure out which of my 500 FB friends use Twitter. Anyone interested in building this for Web 2.0 Expo? If so, I'll buy you a beer next week. If you use Social Graph to build it too, that would be pretty neat... is it possible? /LC

Since I'll be at the Web 2.0 expo next week at the Silverlight Booth (April 24 & 25), I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to introduce her to Popfly our tool for creating Web 2.0 Mashups!

I created this mashup in about a 20 minutes (I had to create a block that did the matching of names - that's why it took so long).

Popfly is nifty, Michael.

I tried building it myself with the existing blocks (not ripping your mashup), knowing it wouldn't work, just to get the feel for the system. I was easily able to identify the problems, then I just ripped yours, tweaked it, and it ran. (:

It's not exactly what I thought Lauren wanted--i.e., try to find my FB friends on twitter so that I could stalk them over there, too--but I should be able to easily replace the twitter block with one that scrapes the results of http://twitter.com/tw/search/users?q=<name>

Best,

Joe

Michael, I also took a look at popfly after seeing what you'd done.  I couldn't figure out how to get more than one image into the carousel, so using your MatchBoth block as an example, I created one that loaded all the pictures on my site (photos that my daughter took).  I'm sure I reinvented the wheel, but I couldn't believe how easily I could put it together.  I dropped the <iframe... code into an html file and sent it to her to see.  It made her day (mine too)!

Thanks,

Steve
