Some coincidental scheduling has given me a chance to speak with both the Boston .NET and Beantown .NET user groups this week, both on XNA ! You'll have two chances to get up to speed on how to create games easily for Windows, XBox 360, and the Zune using XNA and .NET. The Boston .NET meeting is on Wednesday (7/9) in Waltham and the Beantown .NET meeting is on Thursday (7/10) on State St. in Boston, both are from 6-8 PM. If you're interested in the Beantown .NET meeting , send an RSVP email

Unfortunately, tonight's (6/23) meeting for the Boston XNA Developers Group will have to be canceled. A last-minute scheduling problem has come up, so we're going to punt on this month's meeting. We'll continue as usual with the July meeting. If you're new to the group, the content of these meetings remains very approachable even if you're brand new to XNA and games development, so come on down! -Chris

Michael Cummings will be presenting. The content level is still introductory, so if you're new to XNA, please do stop by! Head to the group's site for resources and information. -Chris

On March 26th at the next Boston XNA Developers Group meeting, we're starting the process of learning XNA . (The first meeting was a non-technical overview of the world of XNA.) Join Michael Cummings and me as we walk through creating a basic 2D game with XNA from scratch, zilch, zero. No game development experience is required , just a passion for playing games and a desire to make them. The meeting will be from 6:00-8:00 on Wednesday, March 26th (we're aiming for the fourth Wednesday of each month)

GameDev Day '07 is this Saturday at Harvard and I'm very pleased with how well the agenda has come together. We have an incredibly strong group of presenters from the gaming industry with interesting sessions throughout the day. First, a change in logistics. We are now in Emerson Hall (room 105) , which is right next door to our original Sever Hall. In exciting news, we're going to be joined by Kent Quirk and John Lester from Linden Lab (makers of Second Life) to speak about virtual worlds and technology!
