It's the little things...
...like the proposed change in Daylight Savings Time that makes this job fun and interesting. For those who haven't heard part of the Energy Bill making it's way through the US Congress mandates a change to the current system of time shifting with the seasons. The house
bill would have added two months to DST but this was rejected by the senate and a
compromise of three or four weeks (news reports conflict) was reached, starting one year from passage of the bill (probably some time in 2007). Since the sim has knowledge of DST we, along with the rest of the software industry, need to keep on top of this
story. We actually track DST separately for the US, Canada, Great Britian, Eastern Europe and Western Europe. There are also a number of countries with their own rules that we don't currently model. So, what could be cooler than coming to work and trying to decide how your game should respond to acts of Congress?
