It's Here! It's Here!
And, no, it's not the new phonebook. It's my Kraft Foods gamepad and it arrived in the mail today. I only had time to plug it in to see if Windows recognized it. Sure enough, it shows up in Control Panel as "USB Joystick" (how original). The Properties dialog shows a POV switch and 10 buttons but I could only trigger 8 of them. (Future expansion maybe?)
Flight Sim, incredibly robust DirectInput client that it is, recognized it right away. The default button mappings aren't really optimized for the device, though, so I'm hoping to have time to create a custom mapping set like I did for the Xbox 360 controller. I don't know what I'll have it do yet but it no doubt it will be fun (and aerobic) whatever it is! Stay tuned....
