&lt;p&gt;MFC71.dll!CListCtrl::GetItemText(int nItem=0x00000000, int nSubItem=0x01e144a8)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Basically call to the CListCtrl::GetItemText never returned.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The nSubItem value should be 1, I'm not sure why the debugger (VS 2003) thinks it is 0x01e144a8.&lt;/p&gt;

It's related to a drwatson entry in the event log, in which &amp;quot;ntdll!kifastsystemcallret&amp;quot; is the only character string a normal person finds remotely related to human words, so this is what we type in google search. :)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If only windows were willing to tell which particular service is failing, instead of babbling about svchost.exe...&lt;/p&gt;
