Making Security Better for the IT Pro

Published 05 June 08 04:29 PM

I literally just stepped out of keynoting the latest Technet Security Event for Microsoft Singapore. The question I posed to the attendees at the event, "What things can Microsoft be doing better for IT Professionals in Singapore with regards to security."

The following were some of the responses

  • Free Security Exam Vouchers
  • 2 Day Security Camp
  • Publicize Security Events better
  • Establishment of a forum for people to ask questions and get timely responses
  • Giving away Partner Action Packs or Technet Plus
  • Greater exposure to Microsoft Security Products and Technologies
  • Bring Tech Ed back to Singapore

There were lots of good suggestions, so while I go away and have a think about what we can do locally in Singapore, please let me know if you support any of the above suggestions or have suggestions of your own, then please feel free to comment.

Windows Defender Antispyware is a great product. But how do we report new malware/trojan/spyware ?

Have tried submitting sample using https://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/submit.aspx, and http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/support/reportspyware.mspx,

but no responses from Microsoft.

OK Nicolas, I got in touch with the Spyware team and they said to post it again, they said their system is set to respond to posts, but if you did not recieve anything then they may need to check their systems.

So go ahead and post it again at https://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/submit.aspx and if you do not recieve any email response let me know and we can work to fixing this issue.

Thanks for the heads up.
