Search Server Express RTM

Im not quite sure how I missed this one, although last month was a pretty packed one, but Search Server Express has RTM'd.

For those of you who are unaware of what Search Server Express is, let me give you the quick summary.

Search Server is a product that once installed will crawl the network shares you specify and index all of the content. Users are then able to search through this content using a simplified user interface through a browser. The results themselves are presented intelligently back to the user, utilizing features like best bets and hit highlighting. In addition with "relevance tuning", you are able to rank where the most likely authoritative information sources are.

Search Server itself also comes in two flavors Search Server Express (free download), and Search Server 2008. The difference in the two editions is that the Express version can be installed on just one server, whereas Server Server 2008 can be scaled across multiple servers to ensure high availability and performance. The great thing about this is that you could start with Search Server Express and then easily move to Search Server 2008 as the requirements for Search in your organization grows.

Anyway, I wont go in to too much detail, but let you discover for yourselves the capabilities. Check it out here https://www.microsoft.com/enterprisesearch/default.aspx.
