About Agile Database Development

I have been at MSFT just about a year (June/05) and joined after spending a little more than 5 1/2 years as an industry analyst with META Group and Gartner.  I focused a lot on process, platforms, and helping companies understand technology choices.  Prior to this I had a short stint with SEAGULL Software after selling our Java product unit from ObjectShare.  ObjectShare was the culmination of over 7 years in the Smalltalk industry (still my favorite language) first with Digitalk, then ParcPlace-Digitalk which we then renamed ObjectShare.  It was there that I first got to see first hands agile development in practice and work together with some of the greats like Ivar Jacobsen, Rebecca Wirfs-Brock, and Kent Beck. Prior to this I did a stint with Miller Freeman as the Technical Editor for Computer Langauge/Software Development, AI Expert and helped launch Game Developer.  Going deeper into my past I spent my formative years as a C/Assembly programmer writing debugger interfaces and instrument control systems.

In the time away from the office I spend time with my 4 kids and wife going to a variety of sporting and arts oriented events.  I love basketball, rugby, F1 and fishing and camping.  It has been quite the move from S. CA. to Seattle but in general we really like it.
