I think this is great! I wish WPF had something like this. I'm trying to update your code for Silverlight Beta 2 and have been unsuccessful so far. Have you tried to upgrade this code yet?

I just have finally succeed that update this Code for silverlight2 beta 2.

this is only 2 steps.

(1) let's close five build error.

we should change the code below in ShadowBox.cs .

before:

new PropertyChangedCallback(PropChangedCallback)

after:

new PropertyMetadata(new PropertyChangedCallback(PropChangedCallback))

(2) add a line.

we should add code below in the constructor of Shadow class.

this.DefaultStyleKey = typeof(ShadowBox);

that's all !!

This doesn't work in silverlight 2 release.

Somehow this line from "override void OnApplyTemplate()" always returns null:

"RootElement = (FrameworkElement)GetTemplateChild("RootElement");"

Any ideas why?

I'm fighting my way through this at the moment as well, and there are several breaking changes between the beta version and the final release. The location and content of the generic.xaml changed. Also, the reason in my test project that the GetTemplateChild() method returns Null is that the style isn't getting applied to the control correctly. If I move the contents of generic.xaml to the app.xaml and apply the style by using the "Style=" method it works. Not very portable, but it works.

There are 3 reasons the style wasn't getting applied correctly. Fist, the generic.xaml should've been placed under the \themes directory. Second the type must be specified in the style and in the style's template (which I had missed), and third, this line should be added to the constructor of your class:

this.DefaultStyleKey = typeof(YourClassName);

Apparently all this changed from the beta version to the final one.
