Its intresting you mentioned in this post that Silvelight 1.0 is taking off but with Silverlight its hard to convince most people because of the lack of ubiqity figures for adoption of Silverlight. I know its hard at this stage but figures will only help and encourage developers to develop Silverlight applications.

Are there any plans now or in near future to update Internet Explorer with Silvelight plug-in as essential upgrade?

I'm interested in how Silverlight was selected as the delivery format/platform for JA2.5.

Did the Viacom/MTV approach Microsoft or vice-versa?

Did Microsoft participate in the technical work - transcoding/converting/whatsis the video to Silverlight?

In the interest of "following the money", what are the financial arrangements of this deal?

I am glad you clarified your comments reguarding "This is an Internet first - an online premiere of a full-length feature film" to mention Silverlight, because it is NOT the first online premiere of a full-length feature film. I believe that honor goes to Cactuses, http://www.cactusesmovie.com .

Ahhh... That is accurate. The New York Times article lists it as "first studio-backed feature film", which would be correct. Cactuses was an independent feature film.

It's about time Microsoft started supporting Web Standards instead of creating their own proprietary formats that compete with the W3C's Open Web Standards.

There is no use-case for Silverlight, it should never have been developed. We have had SVG since 2003, the world's just waiting for Microsoft to support it.

Silverlight is evil. Boycott it today.
