Say what you will about the value of Software Assurance historically relative to some of the other Microsoft product lines, but it's pretty hard to argue that SA hasn't provided consistent value with respect to Visual Studio Team System.  I've been a long-term MSDN subscriber (well pre-dating my Microsoft days), and it's hard for me to imagine how someone develops on the Windows platform without MSDN.  Looking at the roadmap, you'll clearly be receiving high value from your Visual Studio SA in the not-too-distant future.
