Cloud computing is another name for hosted environment that has been available for ages..

IMHO, it's just another terminology for hosted shared environment being provided by data centers.

I agree that this is going to be very common in near future to be writing software to be deployed and running the Cloud Computing scenario. And the current disillusioned dream of SOA might well be one of the key things in the programming model of a Cloud application. I am still working on getting the concepts right in my mind and am looking forward to reading the thoughts of the community about it. Thanks for taking an initiative.

I found for a novice developer there is not enough walkthroughs and tutorials to get the fell of the cloud

it would be nice to see more the hands on labs seem to have been wrote for some one who allready knows the cloud and how to develop for if

I'm starting to look at it myself. I've used App Engine for a year and wonder about the data access model in Azure.

I'm also curious about Amazon's support for Windows in EC2 and how that will compare with using Azure.

Anyway, looking forward to following your reports.

It depends on what kind of data you have. If you have relational data and want to keep it that way, you need to wait for the SQL in the cloud. If you want to scale it up, you can look into the Azure Tables. There is a project on codeplex that converts a database to Azure tables but I haven't used it myself.

Yes you can. Or you can use the Service Bus to have Azure call into your mainframe and get data back from it.
