Go watch Family Guy (or, 71-652)

Looking like 70-652: TS: Windows Server Virtualization, Configuring is set to hit the market on August 25ish. Or so. What this means to you is that you can crack a beer and watch some Family Guy and not worry about your 71-652 beta results until on or after that date, because that's the guideline for when your results should most likely be out. You might find out before hand!! But until then, good friends, put your feet up. Maybe take a nap. We'll wake you if it's posted before then.

Or you can kill some time reading about how the beta process works, now that it's been edited and published on Microsoft.com.

Your options, again, while waiting for your results:

  • Beer and Family Guy
  • Feet up and nap
  • Read about betas

It sounds so fun! I wish I were waiting for my 71-652 result, too.

Have never seen no Family Guy so i'll guess i'll be watching something else then for the next 5 days ;)

Just checked for the results anyway on Prometric but it still shows as tested, as could be expected.

Is Roel also waiting for the result??

Thanks for the update Trika!

# re: Go watch Family Guy (or, 71-652)

I've received an answer from MCPHelp@microsoft.com

"We value your time and want to provide you with excellent service.

We would like to inform you that you will be receiving the confirmation after 3 months, if you pass the exam."

there is a french expression to describe this answer : "rien de nouveau sous le soleil" which means in a word to word translation : "nothing new under the sun" but in english it probably means nothing

waiting is the key ....

I have committed to not checking my prometric history tomorrow.  I will wake, come to work, do my job, and not once will I examine my history, or this blog.

I will do it...I will do it...I will do it...

<repeating affirmations on my way to prometric's website>

Dang it - I just checked it AGAIN!

# re: Go watch Family Guy (or, 71-652)

It is like standing in front of a pot of water on the stove, waiting for it to boil.  It just never happens till you walk away.

That being said, if I had a dollar for everytime I checked the site today, I'd be able to buy myself a really nice lunch.  Or one of those Certified Chuck Norris Fan hats or something like that...

# re: Go watch Family Guy (or, 71-652)

It doesn't make sense the exam is available for registering and we don't have the results yet. I have doubts if I'll take beta exams in the future, even being invited. In my opinion, they are more difficult than the final version.

I take beta exams because I like to be certified before the others. It's my way to be ahead. In my team, now there are some people certified before me. It's not my differential anymore.

Thursday, August 28, 2008 5:50 PM by Ray Aslin

# re: Go watch Family Guy (or, 71-652)

The difference between this and the pot of water:

I control the knob on the stove!!!!

Yes - I checked again (hanging head in shame).  I have no control.  I am weak.

For the record - I take the beta's because it proves that I didn't use a brain dump to take the test, its free, and its a challenge to study without a braindump or even a textbook.  I know its frustrating to wait for results, but I guess that's just how it goes.

# re: Go watch Family Guy (or, 71-652)

The scores are in process, they're not done yet (I'm sure that's obvious), and we'll send out a notice to those concerned as soon as I get a little more info. In the meantime, thanks for your patience. I know it is hard to wait, and that you put time and effort in to this (which we love). We have tried to say over and over again that the betas don't adhere to a perfect schedule, because they are betas, and sometimes things get slowed down or mucked up or otherwise wonky, in the process of creating somethign new. Your scores are being finalized and transferred and that's where we are. Thanks again for your humor and understanding; the beta process is what it is and we hope the benefits of participating outweigh the hassles for you, over time.

# re: Go watch Family Guy (or, 71-652)

Thank you for taking beta exam 71-652: TS: Windows Server Virtualization, Configuring. We are writing to let you know that your results are being processed and are not yet available from Prometric or Microsoft.

The exam was released in its live form on August 25, 2008. Although, in general, we hope to make beta results available on or before the release of the live exam, delays or changes to the process are inherent in a beta. In this case, the processing of your individual scores was delayed beyond the exam release date, and we wanted to let you know the status of your scores to hopefully avoid any confusion or frustration on your part.

To learn more about the beta process, please visit: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcpexams/status/beta.mspx.

We anticipate that your scores will be available within a few weeks, but we are not able to provide an exact date. There is no action required on your part; your scores will be available at Prometric and on your Microsoft transcript as soon as our processing is complete. Thank you for your patience.

We sincerely appreciate the contribution you make as a beta tester in the Microsoft Certification program.

Regards,

The Microsoft Certification team

# re: Go watch Family Guy (or, 71-652)

Maybe an explanation of why they are delayed. I for one will not be deterred from participating in betas regardless, but it would be nice to understand exactly where the hold-up is.

Friday, August 29, 2008 3:10 PM by TitusT

# re: Go watch Family Guy (or, 71-652)

Wonderful!

Your results will be available within a few weeks!

Trika, Is this a trick to keep us from bothering you with all these comments?:-)

According to the process in the link, once the scoring model is determined and handed over to Prometric, there is nothing more to do from Microsoft's side. Prometric should be applying that scoring model to our test answers and provide the results to us and Microsoft.

70-652 being live means that this scoring model is done and handed over.

Then why the uncertainty and the delay of another few weeks?

Am I missing something?

Passed!

I have to give you credit on communications this time.

- Blog that it won't be before 8/29. (thanks, Trika!)

- email that results are delayed.

- email with Pass/Fail status (my son took it too and did not pass).

I don't think you guys have done status emails before (I know you didn't for last summer's betas) and I'd like to think that the increased communication is partly a result of the pain we put Trika through in earlier betas.

Sharing pain with someone who can do something about it is generally a good idea. And... If that's how it happened, kudos also for not raising our expectations beyond what could be delivered.

I have to say it's an improvement. Incremental, not radical.. but enough!
