November 14, 2007 6:00PM - 9:00PM, Hall of Fame Room at New England Tech (Directions)
Speaker: Stephen R. Simon
Topic: Using CLR Assemblies with Microsoft SQL Server Stored Procedures

With the ability to incorporate CLR Assemblies with SQL Server 2005 stored procedures, a new door has been opened to folks in the banking and mutual fund industry. Numerous countries impose strict compliance requirements, including the retention of daily photo snapshots of client reports, to be used (if necessary) for federal auditing purposes. This has always proved a very daunting challenge. This hands-on presentation will show the attendee how we have utilized CLR Assemblies with stored procedures, to ‘store’ these photo snapshots within our SQL Server 2005 database. The attendee will be guided through the design, creation and the implementation of these assemblies with our stored procedures. This will be done by means of visuals and practical examples from a recent implementation. The presentation will illustrate how easily the assemblies may be incorporated with stored procedures and how they may be called from a Visual Studio 2005 windows or web based front end application.
