About Exchange Hosted Services - Spam Team Blog

This is a blog run by a program manager, currently working for Microsoft as part of the Exchange Hosted Services anti-spam division.

In July 2005, Microsoft bought Frontbridge Technologies, an antispam company with a lot of customers.  In May 2006, I decided to start an internal blog, writing about what it's like to be a spam analyst and provide a behind-the-scenes look at what we do.  Two months later, I decided to make the blog publicly available.

In general, I blog about what we do on the spam team while giving away no tactics that are not publically available on our web page.  I also write about some issues affecting Microsoft and perhaps a little about economics (ie, reactions to stock price movement).  This blog reflects my thoughts and my thoughts only and do not reflect those of Microsoft.  Heck, they barely reflect the views of the rest of my co-workers on the spam team.

About me:

I joined Frontbridge in July 2004 as one of the original group of 5 employees in the company in its Canadian operations (excluding the director of Winnipeg Operations and his assistant).

Back when I was in high school I actually wanted to work for Microsoft.  However, after graduating from university I never really considered that as a possibility as my focus became more hardware driven and I got on with Lucent Technologies.  However, four years later, I was acquired by Microsoft and here I am today.

Outside of the tech industry, one of my major areas of interest is in economics and the stock market.  This is why, from time to time, I comment on the state of Microsoft's stock.  As employees who are shareholders in the company, the share price of Microsoft is important to us.  I have been trading for around 2 1/2 years with varying levels of success though I was reading and learning about it for two years prior to that.
