Protecting your mail from the scum of the internet
Even spammers take vacations

There's an old saying that goes "Crime doesn't take a vacation."  Whenever I say that in my head, it's always in Chief Wiggum's voice for some reason.

However, Wiggum was wrong, crime does take a vacation.  Over the week including the Labour Day weekend, our inbound traffic fell 21% week-over-week.  It then rebounded 20% the next week and 14% the following week.

You may be tempted to think that this represents all of our legitimate mailers going on vacation but that is not possible; our mail delivered to the end user is something like 3% of our overall mail stream.  The drop in traffic had to be accounted for by spammers not sending anything and deciding to head to the lake/beach/cottage/spam conference for that week.
