Last week I posted news about the Windows XP Professional for Embedded Systems Event at TVP on 21st October.

Following on from that post, I’d also like to tell you about a series of online seminars relating to specific aspects of Windows Embedded technology. While not perhaps for those of you already teaching embedded technologies, the seminars may prove useful if you are considering future curriculum developments.

MSDN Academic Alliance, do your students know they can get Vista?

The academic team is currently in London running the Microsoft Student Partner bootcamp; 62 students from 50 universities learning about our tools, products and vision so that they can help their peers develop a love of technology.

A big debate just revealed that many of them are unaware of the benefits they can derive from your MSDN AA memberships, particularly the fact that they can get Vista Enterprise and hundreds of other products. The start of the new academic year is a good time to remind your existing cohort and inform the freshers. You can get all the information you need here. If there are any of you that do not have a subscription then I urge you to consider it and let me know if you have any questions.

Tell us why you like Windows Vista and Office 2007 - and win a Tablet PC

Lots of education establishments are already using Windows Vista and even more are using Office 2007. And if you are one of those, then here's your chance to tell others why you like it...and win a prize. There are two Tablet PCs up for grabs in the competition (one each for the best Student and Staff entry). And 20 x 2GB memory sticks for the first 10 featured entries in each category.

Microsoft is pleased to announce that registration for the Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance Technology Day is now open. This is a one day event for all IT professionals within academic institutions, aimed at providing you with the skills and knowledge to get the maximum benefit from your subscription whether you’re an existing user, new to MSDN AA or are thinking about buying a subscription.

MSDN Roadshow - tour results

Remember we wrote about the MSDN team's roadtrip? You know - tell them where to go, and they will?

The final, final schedule is now LIVE, and I'm really pleased to see some Universities in the mix!

This is an interesting one. Normally, our launch events are large and occur at only a few venues (typically Edinburgh, Harrogate, Birmingham, London and occasionally Bristol).

However, the Vista Developer Launch is going to be rather different. After the launch event in Reading, the team are hitting the road and looking to run a series of small presentations across the country.

Of course, they'll need a roof over their head, and an audience.

And this is where the Universities come in - would you like to play host to some of our best technical presenters?

If so, have a look at this. Logistics will finally dictate which locations we can visit, but this could be a great opportunitiy to draw in local business and also amuse your students...
